Education and Expertise

Dr. Anne Tsao earned her medical degree from the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Indiana University and her oncology fellowship at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she currently practices.

Dr. Tsao serves as Professor, Section Chief, and Program Chair for the Department of Thoracic/Head and Neck Medical Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. She also serves as Director for the center’s mesothelioma program.

Although mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer, Dr. Anne Tsao believes you should not give up hope. You could exceed the average survival rate as other patients have done.

A Researcher as Well

Dr. Anne Tsao also works as a researcher because she wants to advance her clinical practice. She studies head and neck cancers, thoracic cancers, and aerodigestive malignancies. Mesothelioma is her area of special expertise.

Part of an Excellent Team

After Dr. Tsao completed her oncology fellowship, she joined a focus group on asbestos-related disease. This multidisciplinary group consisted of nurses, surgeons, radiologists, and lung specialists. They worked to match each patient with a clinical trial on a case-by-case basis.
