About The Doctor

Dr. Jason Foster

Peritoneal Mesothelioma , Associate Professor

Dr. Jason M Foster doesn't guarantee he has the solution for every patient with peritoneal mesothelioma, but he does promise each patient will understand the process of treatment better. He's great at explaining the treatment procedures and calming patients down about it, and he eliminates the gloom and doom attitude that permeates what often comes after a sobering diagnosis. He says that he can't always correct the surgical conditions that a patient might have, but he can clarify and paint a picture of what's necessary for the treatment ahead.

Specialized in Treating Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Dr. Foster specializes in cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. Once all visible tumors are removed from the abdominal lining via cytoreductive surgery, HIPEC is performed by bathing the abdominal cavity in chemotherapy to kill any residual cancer cells. The heated chemotherapy solution circulates throughout the abdominal cavity for about 90 minutes. This procedure can significantly extend a patient’s life.
