Specialized in Treating Peritoneal Mesothelioma
Dr. Foster specializes in cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for the treatment of malignant peritoneal mesothelioma. Once all visible tumors are removed from the abdominal lining via cytoreductive surgery, HIPEC is performed by bathing the abdominal cavity in chemotherapy to kill any residual cancer cells. The heated chemotherapy solution circulates throughout the abdominal cavity for about 90 minutes. This procedure can significantly extend a patient’s life.
