Dr. Jun Zhang

Mesothelioma Specialist , Assistant Professor of Medicine

Dr. Jun Zhang first chose to go into medicine because she wanted to help other people to feel much better. She works as the assistant professor of medicine at Baylor College, and she understands how to utilize some of the newly emerging laboratory technologies to help with providing some of the most personalized and advanced medical care in the nation.

Background

Dr. Jun Zhang earned her medical degree from Hunan Medical University. This university is known as the “One-Thousand-Year-Old University.” Dr. Zhang completed her internal medicine residency at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. She completed her hematology/oncology fellowship at Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

Dr. Zhang currently practices as a medical oncologist at Houston Methodist Cancer Center. Some of her special areas of interest include lung cancer, malignant pleural mesothelioma, and cancer immunotherapy.

Teaching, Research, and Clinical Practice

Dr. Zhang serves as Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in Oncology for Houston Methodist Institute for Academic Medicine and Weill Cornell Medical College. She participates in thoracic oncology research studying cancer immunotherapy. Dr. Zhang’s goal for her clinical practice has always been to provide her patients with some of the latest and greatest personalized healthcare.
