Linda Garland, M.D., knows a lot about the challenges that face the medical community and giving compassionate care to patients. However, she also understands the future opportunities that come out of it. Dr. Garland serves as associate professor at the University of Arizona. She hails the most recent advances on genetic tumors and profiling. Dr. Garland wrote an article called, "Individualizing Mesothelioma Treatment: Small Steps into a Bright Future."

Education and Expertise

Dr. Linda Garland earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School. She completed her internal medicine residency at James A. Haley Veterans Hospital and her hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

Dr. Garland currently practices at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, where she also serves as Professor of Medicine and Research Member for the Cancer Prevention and Control Program. Her special areas of interest include mesothelioma, lung cancer, mediastinal tumors, and experimental therapeutics.

Her research in this area includes personalized chemotherapy for lung cancer, head and neck cancer, and thyroid cancer. She has also served as principal investigator for a clinical trial studying the use of trimodal therapy for mesothelioma. She shares her findings on experimental therapeutics with her patients to provide them with the most advanced treatment in addition to the best care.
