Dr. Mario Gasparri, M.D., finished consecutive residencies for cardiothoracic and general surgery. He joined up with the staff for Froedtert Medical College of Wisconsin. At this hospital, Dr. Gasparri spent 10 years of his life serving on the thoracic surgery team, and he has also served on the surgical team for Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital. This medical college affiliates itself with the Clement J. Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Mario Gasparri has devoted his career to treating chest-based diseases like malignant pleural mesothelioma and lung cancer. He prefers to perform minimally invasive surgeries for both of these diseases because they are less invasive and offer the patient a quicker recovery time. Dr. Gasparri also has expertise in diagnostic procedures, including electromagnetic navigation bronchoscopy.

Gasparri’s Experience

Dr. Gasparri has experience in many of the most complex procedures. For example, he is skilled in lung transplant, chest wall reconstruction, and extrapleural pneumonectomy. Working for Froedtert Hospital, Dr. Gasparri works in one of the few facilities in Wisconsin that can perform radical surgeries like extrapleural pneumonectomy, where the lung gets removed.

An Individualized Multidisciplinary Approach

Dr. Gasparri spoke at a 2011 conference for lung cancer on a study he collaborated on, outlining the multidisciplinary approach of high-dose radiation and chemotherapy for the treatment of lung cancer.

He also stays in close communication with the Froedtert doctors, specialists whom he meets with twice-weekly at tumor board. Each patient’s case gets evaluated on an individual basis by this team of specialists, allowing Dr. Gasparri to provide his patients with a comprehensive and customized treatment plan.
