Dr. Ravi Salgia, a doctor who was never content in simply treating cancer, hopes to invent a medicine that could one day cure it. In fact, he hopes to improve medicines so that they won't make the patient sick while taking them. He also hopes to find one that will not cause them to lose their hair. Working as a medical oncologist, Dr. Salgia treats patients who have tumors with drugs. Dr. Salgia's heart is in both innovation and healing.

Education and Expertise

Dr. Salgia earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at Johns Hopkins University and his medical oncology fellowship at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Salgia currently practices at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, where he also serves as the Arthur and Rosalie Kaplan Chair of Medical Oncology. His clinical practice is enriched by his fluency in English, Spanish, and Hindi, helping him to reach more patients in need of his care. Dr. Salgia’s special areas of interest include thoracic oncology research, which he conducts with the National Cancer Institute.
