Dr. Roman Perez-Soler

Dr. Roman Perez Soler, M.D., earned his degree in medicine back in 1977 at a university in Barcelona. He later completed his fellowship for medical oncology in Houston. After he finished his fellowship, Dr. Soler began to practice thoracic oncology at the Houston medical center for the next 13 years.

International Recognition

Over the course of his career, Dr. Roman Perez-Soler has been recognized internationally for developing non-surgical detection methods and novel treatments to improve outcomes for patients with mesothelioma and lung cancer.

Dr. Soler currently serves as Chair of the Department of Oncology and Chief of the Division of Medical Oncology at Montefiore Medical Center. He also serves as Professor of Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology and Principal Investigator at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. His research is funded by the National Cancer Institute.

Dr. Soler’s work has resulted in many patented products and the founding of two biopharmaceutical companies: Aronex Pharmaceuticals and Transave, Inc. His research focuses include anti-tumor drug delivery and experimental treatments with improved efficacy and safety for the treatment of mesothelioma and lung cancer. He has compiled the findings of his research into over 200 papers and book chapters. Dr. Soler’s research continues to advance the treatment of asbestos-related malignancies.
